Thanks drummer you are probably correct as I have just few hours experience and JUST now I played bp 26 again after overnight kept it turned on , bit better BUT I must mention after listening to bp 26 I plugged in MRX 700 again and the difference I found on retrospective the sound not as sweet as with bp 26 bit harsh margins but sound I felt was LOT clearer AND sound stage bit bigger with MrX 700 And focus of sound stage again come back to centre.
I must say this is just my observation and I amNOT an expert at all.
The thing which surprise me if room is to be blamed then why not with anthem,May be its correcting it .
VERY Important when I had bp 26 on I walked around in different parts of the room and there was not much variation in bass intensity but if you walk around the room with Anthem there is lot of variation in sound (boom) in different parts of the room and sweet spot is only a small area but that area or seat is relatively clean .

Jamshed,

Don't spend money on a pro, you have ARC. Waiting for you to post your charts in the Paradigm thread or start your own thread here as I don't want to swamp this thread.
If still in doubt just connect Oppo directly to your amp, no pre needed (as discussed).

Jamshed,

I went down the same route you are trying before buying the Sp3. Mine was an Oppo BDP 95 connected to a pair of Parasound JC1's using the digital volume. It was good but nowhere close to what it was once I got the Bryston. The sound opened up and the images was more precise. I think a lot has to with the voltage and impedance matching. The preamplifer does the initial voltage amplication like a torque in a car and the amp provides it more amplification analogy like horse power. Asking the amp to do both severely restricts the amplifier capabilities as per my ear.

Actually it is attenuating the signal most of the time, otherwise it would be too loud. That's why some can get by with passive preamps. Also balanced signals are 6dB higher still.

Thanks a2k2000.

The thing is I was almost about to pull the trigger for Sp3 and just to have an idea how it would sound in 2 channel ,I borrowed SP26 from dealer for overnight and it was very upsetting and quite different from reviews .Boomy ,not clear at all, definitely louder and more analogue sound than anthem Mrx 700 as Pre .
But if this is how sp3 going to sound then I don't think I am going to risk my money . No one is going to buy that off me.
After few days of that sp26 trial .
I got my room assessed and specialist /accoustic came and assessed my room and he said my room is fine ,no treatment required.
I have connected oppo95 direct to bryston 14bsst2,amazing clarity and control but no depth and width and volume of sound stage everything very flat .
So I have no choice but to try other Pre or take a plunge for Sp3 but my experimentation doesn't support it .
Thx
