Yes I know, but I think the interest of the K1X is more in the new Atlas transport and especially the new DAC.

Honestly I don't see the point of modifying ( $$ ) the K1 to add a PS1, it's better to resell it and buy a K1X.

That a better idea.
Esoteric are replacing older models fast, to stream line their product with Atlas and FPGA+MQA.
Now K01XD and K03XD announced too.

Ok, I forgot to mention what I don’t like about it.
1. All new gen Esoteric upper models come with
Self destructing OLED display. So display goes dark
After a few minutes to slow that process down. So
After song number one, to know what song I was listening
To is to wake this display up.

2. Poorly executed remote control, many functions that
Should be able to do from remote control can only access
From front panel buttons only, such as power on off, set up, source switching. Luxman can do all these.

3. The drawer or tray operation doesn’t sound like
expensive mechanical work of art, due to plastic like
Sound from VRDS clamping system operation. Unlike
Accuphase, Luxman or Mcintosh MCD tray, I think Denon
Top model SACD player also have quieter tray operation too. I am not sure what the but at least the K1 tray movef fast until approaching 90% of its travel then nicely slow down before reach 100%. The K1X tray move fast until hitting 100% followed by sound of plastic-like clamp doing its job ( ok Duralumin)

That’s all complaints.

Toga, the shame is that these shortcomings are not new.

Yes... I can't believe that they still don't know how to make a remote that does anything useful. It's 2020... Hello

I met Esoteric design team on K1X public demonstration
Event in Osaka not long ago. I shared this opinion to him.
The answer was quite surprising. He said because the
Remote control software/hardware is old, cannot reprogrammed. But this was from a conversation between Japan-English and Thai-English. He also mentioned that there is one key different bet ween K1X and K1 besides those that most already know. It is about the sound level difference between DSD and PCM. The K1x now has same sound level between SACD and Cd.
But still, there is one setting in the menu to lower PCM output level by 6dB. So I am not sure if I remembered this right. It could be the other way around.

Now, I have to explore all the up conversion options and PCM filter options. Too many possibilities. Better stay with ORIG.
But from Luxman I found that filter 2 or Slow made it sound more liquid and tube like, at slight loss of low level details. I will try this on Esoteric later.

Congrats for the K1X ! I am sure it's a fantastic product !
Did you had the chance to compare it to the P1X/D1X ?

Thanks
Alex

Thanks, and no. I Don’t want to hear P1X,D1X. Haha.
P1D1x system is complex. Require too many cables, space, cash...

That's it, on the advice of Ivan, Stillpoints Ultra SS found and bought, second-hand, in Europe.

I'll see if it brings me anything good.

Now I just have to find adapters in M8 x 1.25 Short. Any ideas ?
