Heading over to some friends, tonight is a bit of tech support on their HT, followed by some Zachary's pizza and several flights of unknowns...

I'm bringin' some 12-yr Wisconsin Cheddar and a '04 Ch. St. Jean Cinq Cepages. Don't want to go TOO overboard on them - since they are the hosts, after all.

I don't do it often, but when I get caviar it's for the family (only). Very acquired taste; took me years to appreciate. Now just give me some little toast triangles, blinis, and egg - I'm set!

When we held the first Goldmund Century Club Reception at the Swiss Grand in Chicago in the late 80s, my wife discovered caviar. For years it was very reasonably priced at the Macy's cellar- an ounce of Sevruga was typically under $10 and Osetra under $15. Beluga was over $30 but we preferred the Osetra anyway. We ate it often in those days. Now with prices so crazy and the Cellar gone, we have it once or twice a year.

When we do, it's naked with either a nice champagne or some chilled vodka.

Great pic!!
