How does the SMARTractor compare to the Uni-Protractor?

Acoustical Systems newer SMARTractor includes pivot-to-spindle (P2S) measurement similar to their separate UNI-P2S device and the Feickert. The SMARTractor appears to have its grids etched into the now reflective frame of the device rather than the tonearm specific snap-in mirrors found on the UNI. The SMARTractor frame is plastic or glass whereas the UNI's is metal.

I've used the UNI, the original Feickert, the Mint, and the Wally Tractor.

The Mint and Wally do not offer P2S. I prefer the Wally Tractor over the Mint because its grooves are etched for positive confirmation of stylus placement. I used to use the original Feickert for P2S and then the Wally because the Feickert's stylus 'spot' was too big for true accuracy.

The UNI is easily superior to the original Feickert and based on looking (but not using) the SMARTractor is superior to both original and new Feickert for ease of use and precision.

I don't know if the UNI is still available. Having used the UNI, it's easy to recommend the SMARTractor, particularly now that it includes accurate P2S.

Wally: people complain about ordering from Wally; the trick is to call him on the phone. I've always had prompt service.

Tima...Thank you so much for the reply!
That SMARTractor seems to be the best route for me. My goal is to be well versed in setting up Cartridges and TTs. I'm very interested in the WallySkater so I appreciate your advice on calling Wally. I have read and heard the same things about Wally but I'm glad you have positive things to say. And it seems to me that the SMARTractor has actually replaced the Uni.
Thanks!

Thanks. I'm not sure sure the UNI is replaced so much as morphing into a kit with a nice case, the P2S device and a few tools. As shown here.

I must say the bright LED light that comes with this kit (as well as the original UNI) is very helpful. A small thing but having it makes a big difference. Both Acoustical Systems protractors are a wee bit pricey, but they are very well made and bring confidence in their use. I've had excellent results.

Wally is a fount of information and he has always been willing to share his time with me. Not so adept at the business end of things but he may be the most knowledgeable person about cartridge and record player setup on the planet.
