Guys thanks so much for the advice-My son and I are building the system together- great bonding time( well at least for me)- So we went all out and went all Mcintosh- Most we bought from Ryan at Audio Classics- So we are getting the - C1000 SS preamp, a pair of 601's, the MDA-1000, the MCT-450 and the MT-10- thank god college is done!!
they should all be arriving next week to mate up with our Dunlavy V speakers-
So I probably will have lots of questions and truly appreciate all the saged advice!!!
So first question is hooking up the DAC to the transport- which input( coax,tos AES) should we use- Again thks so much and really looking forward to listening!!

Wow....that is quite a setup you are assembling! I took the advise of many here and connected my MCD1000 to my MDA1000 using the Balanced (AES) connection. I never looked back. I'm using a 3M long Wireworld Gold Starlight Balanced digital interconnect for this connection. That would be my recommendation. I'm sure Ivan can "hook you up" with one of these cables!

We look forward to hearing about your system once it is set up. And don't forget pictures....we like those!

Wow...the C1000 SS preamp....one of McIntosh’s Masterpieces...I was extremely happy with it when I had it in my system.

Hi- so everything arrived- WOW- these babies are really packed well---
So first question- what rca cable do I use to hook up the mt-10 to the c1000? any suggestions- spent so much on the equipment cant go crazy on the wires- thinking of trying to pick up some used off audiogon once I know what to look for - also if I did want to try something which cable has the biggest impact so I could see what one sounds like- running about 1 meter from pre to dac and pre to the 601's going to go balanced- again thanks for the advice- will post pics once we get everything hooked up and running
