Only thing that baffles me with those is how can a SOTA speaker that large only go down to the high 30s (Hz) with +/- 6db roll? I cannot get my head around that for this or other "reference class" uber expensive speakers...guarantees a need for at least dual subs

Mark... I put little to no credibility in published specs. I have heard these myself on more than a few occasions; trust me their Bass rocks.

Gaider Akustiks new DARK 250 driven by Esoteric or Accuphase or Mcintosh pre-amp and amps

Legacy Valor with Wavelet driven by Esoteric or Accuphase or Mcintosh pre-amp and amps where frequency range input is passive (mids and treble)

Legacy Whisper XDS, still a top 10 list speaker with Wavelet driven by Esoteric or Accuphase or Mcintosh pre-amp and amps where frequency range input is passive (mids and treble)

In list above substitute Thrax TERES hybrid monoblocks or SPARTACUS 300B monoblocks and preamp heard in Munich, wish they were available here!

In the above substitute WEST END AUDIO MONACO Integrated Tube amp, heard in Munich, distinguished itself from all other tube gear in Munich and liked it better than the big VAC 450 or new Vitus...

I can say this with much certainty; if this last system does happen, it will be powered by Accuphase A-250 Monoblocks. How many will still need to be determined.

They are hands down the best sounding Amps that this audiophile has ever heard.

I used to have a thing for the Tenor 350M Reference Monoblock Amps. They are now a bit over $123K a pair.



After a direct comparison, the A-250 was the Clear Winner at least for me.

Those are great amps to have a thing for....Wavac too but prices are way up

I don't know why, but I've never heard the focal utopia sound "great". I am sure they are capable of more than what I've heard at RMAF. It's always been puzzling to me. Same thing for the ML Neolith. I want them to impress me but they never do!

Probably just need a lot of care in component matching and room setup.

Rooms at shows are thrown together literally in 24 hours. Even the very best gear sounds poor because of that fact.
