Default ARC LS15 >> ARC LS16 MkII

I have been using a LS15 for several years now and had the chance to pick up a LS 16MkII for a good price. This was due to a recommendation from the head tech at ARC when I called in regards to LS15 upgrades. The LS16 MKII uses the same topography of the newer higher end models based on the 6H30 tubes. I should recieve it in the next few days, and will let you know my impressions.

Regards,
Jim

After a few weeks with the LS16 MkII in the main system here are my impressions. More definition and body in the bottom end, Mids seem a bit more silky and liquid, and the top end is fast, accurate, open with lots of air. The sound stage is wider and deeper with better imaging. I am sure that the gentleman who purchased my LS15 will be delighted, but this preamp is a definite step in the right direction in terms of musicality, speed, and definition. I'm delighted so far, and will look to climb the ladder again once my daughter's April wedding is funded. :^)
Happy Holidays,
Jim

Congrats on the new preamp. I purchased the LS15 when it was first released. Just recently I got a REF5SE to replace it. Yes, I know all about placebos but it's easy to hear the difference. My wife can hear the difference, and she has zero interest in music or high end audio. No doubt ARC has made progress, albeit with a hefty price tag. It will be sad to see the LS15 go, but I'm sure like yours it will find a good home.

I can assure you that the next owner will love the LS15, as it is a great preamp. Your new preamp must sound amazing!
Enjoy,
Jim
