Not quite... There is a hint of upper midrange leanness that does not exist with Sasha and I would imagine the Sophia III is closer to Sasha.

Don't they share the same mid/tweet now? If yes, that should solve the problem.

Vesuvius, since the cabinets (volume and design) and crossovers are set up differently just having the same drivers may not give the same results. All those interactions must be considered. Don't get me wrong, I have not heard the Sophia 3's so I have no idea how close to the Sasha they are.

In my hunch, despite of the new changes of cabinet, crossover & similar driver of Sophia 3 and Sasha, am sure there is no free lunch of their approx $10k difference.
The sasha at that price i expect to be more refine, more articulate bass, better soundstaging, better presence, etc. However, the Sophia 3 w/ the new refinements should come closer to the Sasha than the older Sophia 2. Again, just my guess reading from previous observations in the Wilson line. If I am wrong, pls don't flame me for it.... hehehhe. |
