Doing some cable comparisons right now. Once that is over, I'll give the 501s a spin with the Sophia.

I didn't notice this thread until now... I only listened for a few days as the 501s got sold. Not a bad pairing at all, the 501s did not do as well as my replacement Lamm amps in terms of bass and a few other areas but if I didn't have Lamm to compare to, there really would not be too much to complain about with 501s and Sophia IIs. If you like the Sophia with lesser amps, you will love them with quality amplification like 501s and others.
