Default Sasha W/P 2 Pieces

having moved the Sasha's into my bedroom to replace the Focal Scala Utopia while lying in bed and watching tv looking at the speakers I had to scratch my head and ask myself why the Sasha is still a two piece design...

According to Wilson since W/P 7 the Watt has become inseprabale from it's Puppy. Why then not design it as such ? I am sure having a one piece design would yield better sonic results than what alignment yields in this rather small package.

Any thoughts ?

You have more flexibility to adjust the speaker to your listening position. Better to leave to leave them as separate units.

They do have a very elegant one piece design that rivals the Sasha W/P: Sophia.

Sasha's two enclosures, MAXX's three, Alexandria's four all allow for increasing accuracy in driver time domain alignment.

If the application calls for a bit more ease and aesthetic purity then Sophia is the way to go me thinks. Just my .02.

i do own a pair of witt series 1 (since they were introduced) as well as a pair of sasha and the maxx3.

while i agree that alignment on a speaker of the size of the maxx3 is great to adapt it to various listening positions i really question myself whether it's a necessity on the sasha in terms of form follows function or if it's more of a 'symbolic' or 'heritage' issue.....

the sasha would still remain what it is, the larger more capable sibling to the sophia anyways due to it's ability to simply move more air....

just some thoughts....

Besides time alignment, decoupling the mid/tweeter module from the bass cab has its advantages in terms of vibration control and the resulting enhancement of imaging and focus. No one can deny the incredible focus and depth/layering of images with the bigger wilsons.

How big is your bedroom? The new Sophia moves some serious air with the new magnet on the 10" bow wow. I just heard some Sashas in a friends living room and his room wasn't giving me what I'm getting in terms of bass. I know in my bedroom I get one heck of a room lock with a pair of ProAc D2s.

bedroom's rather large actually at 35 sqm. sasha's have plenty of space and volume to shine.

they are now just hooked up to a pair of CIAudio D-100. Will exchange those for the D-500 MKII's tomorrow.

aerosmith, congrats btw on your sophia3 and incoming maxx3. great choice of colour !
i settled for white on both as it is more timeless and easier to blend-in with furniture.

orange was on my shortlist too.....

Wow, I bet that system really rocks. Sounds like you just need to live with the aesthetics until Sasha2.

I know what you mean on the color. I certainly wasn't thinking trade in.

But as far as matching the decor goes.
