Pretty good review. I think he covered the major strong points of the Sasha very well.

Serge.......I thought so, too. Actually, the review made me want to go audition them.

Dan...I heard the Sashas in a demo put on at Fidelis AV in NH by Peter McGrath (head of sales at Wilson) and John Marks (Stereophile reviewer/editor) and I walked away very impressed. The Sashas in the demo I heard were paired up with Ayre KX-R and MX-Rs, as well as the PS Audio Perfectwave Transport and DAC. I did not pay attention to the cabling. The dynamic scale on the Sashas are tremendous. The midrange was very clean. The highs, which I remember being a bit analytical on prior Wilson demos, was also pristine. I wouldn't call the highs sweet but they were certainly clean and precise. The bottom-end was quick, articulate, and very impressive. Soundstaging was natural in that the stage was not stretched unrealistically wide. Depth was also there. And having read Mark Mickelson's blog on the Sasha's above I totally agree with his point concerning driver coherence and how that results in a very natural realistic sonic picture. The Sashas certainly spoke with a coherent voice. I must say it was a very impressive demo.
The one thing I am sure that helped is that Peter McGrath spent 3 hours that day setting the speakers up in the dealer's room, but we all know how reportedly precise Wilson speaker placement needs to be to really optimize them, so I am sure if one demos them and they are not properly set up, you are not getting the full potential of the speaker come through (but I suppose you can say that about a lot of other speakers as well ). I have been wanting to listen to a pair of Wilsons for years and finally got to this weekend.
They were Sashas being run with ARC tube pre and amp (non reference pieces) a Rega cdp was being used as a transport to an external dac (can't remember brand). My first thought was "what a well put together sound" which i believe must be this "coherence" thing, also liked how nothing jumped out such as exaggerated bass and/or super sparkling highs. Music just came through naturally. Long story short is i really liked these speakers.

The picture shows the Sashas hooked up to Marc's Audio Research Ref 110 instead of the Lamms. I sent him an email asking him to compare the two amps. Hopefully he will post my question and his answer under the "Letters" section of the website. I am very interested to hear if the ARC tube amp provided enough control in the bass given the low impedance dip.

Dave...attached in the letters section at The Audio Beat is such a question from H.O Jerresand concerning Ref 110 vs M1.2 as it related to how they compared paired up to the Lamm LL1 Signature preamp. This might be of interest. But I look forward to his answer to your specific question: The Audio Beat - Insightful reviews for audiophiles and music lovers
