PMC Speakers In JL Audio Factory Demo Room

Looking at JL Audio's website, checking out the Gotham and Fathom subwoofers, I came across some photos of the JL Audio factory demonstration room in Miramar, Florida. Clicking on the photos, and bingo, there are PMC speakers for left, center, right, and rear surrounds. Across the front are three gorgeous PMC MB2S speakers, and the rear surrounds are PMC OB1i speakers. Factory Test Theaters

How about that. JL Audio, manufacturers of Gotham and Fathom subs, considered by many to be the very best subs in the world, are demonstrated with PMC speakers. I find that to be very good news.

I just re-read the review of the FB1i and OB1i in the October 2008 issue of Hi Fi Choice. With minor reservations they liked them both and thought they were obvious improvements versus their predecessors.

I found it interesting that PMC was the speaker of choice at JL Audio. That's a major statement. I guess they followed Lucas Film Production and Dolby Labs lead.

Those are actually the MB2-Actives... Even higher performance. That theatre rocks like nothing else!

Didn't I read somewhere that PMC originally stood for Professional Monitor Co? Their first products were for powered monitors if I remember correctly.

Jim.......Professional Monitor Company is PMC, just like James B. Lansing is JBL. PMC has been manufacturing pro level powered monitors for the BBC and professional recording studios worldwide for a long time. The knowledge and experience comes to the consumer line through a long pedigree.

Ian.......Thanks. I had made the assumption the speakers were the PMC MB2S because of the rack of Bryston amps in one of the photos. PMC is keeping good company, or rather JL Audio is.
