Default Green Mac and A Ham

Do you like Mac amps without transformers?

No I do not like Mac amps without transformers.
I do not like Mac amps that are class D performers

I do not like Mac Pre’s with built in DAC’s.
I prefer my Mac Pre’s in a stack

I do not like Mac phono stages without tubes.
Converting analog to digital is for rubes

I do not like them in a rig
I do not like them for a gig

I not like them in a home theater
Using a DAC for volume control makes one a conspirator

I do not listen without a tube
I do not listen like a boob

I do not mismatch the output impedance
Keeping cables off the floor is not needed

I like my amps big and on the floor
Making Pre’s look like 275’s is a bit of a bore

How many ways can Mac serve you vice
As many as they can, it’s a fools paradise

Will McIntosh continue to slice its pie
Or are there more crannies in which to pry

I know which Mac’s I prefer
But that does not make me a connoisseur

I do not like Mac amps without transformers.
I do not like them, Mike I am.

Mike S.

With my speakers I prefer MAC power amps with out autoformers. The higher damping factors get rid of the tube bloom Mac SS amps have with lower damping factors. Speakers with acoustic suspensions or critically damped woofer and midrange designs the low damping factor of older Mac SS amps with autoformers is not an issue. I tri and bi amp with direct runs to the woofers with out passive crossovers so damping factor makes a big difference.
