Personally, I've never been been particularly aligned with JV's specific equipment sensibilities. He tends to prefer systems and components that super, super "clean" and transparent systems that are very resolving; for me, I tend not to find these systems not particularly engaging. I do like the fact that he really likes vinyl as a source.

That's okay, 'cause music and how we hear it means different things to different people.

My beef with the review is this. I cannot believe that JV has not heard Wilson’s multiple times in many settings. If the show conditions were not up to par say so. Am I to believe after years of glowing Wilson reviews that all of a sudden
they do not understand woofer technology. I think there is more to the story.
Back it up with more than anemic performance. A $59,000 dollar speaker,
really? At the same time I am sure I can hear a blacker background on a $30,000 cable. Just venting! And not trying to start a cable war.

when i was going around listening to a bunch of speakers, wilson always left me with
a "whats the fuss" moment. i do think wilson dont do well in a noisy and big environment
with it's heavy bass, laid back and thin with a reverb'd kind of voicing(making it sounds bright?) kind of presentation. it was not until i tried it home where i became a believer
and a fan. now i cant get enough of my sasha 2 more than my previous vivid g3 and
demoing a lot of speakers like focal, yg, tannoy, gryphon etc.

I don't know what the Sasha daw costs, but it's not in the 50's. You are thinking of the Alexia.

IMHO, there are no valid reviews in show reports. Such comments are barely anecdotal, regardless of the source.

I think J. Valin is a decent writer. I’ve read The Absolute Sound for a long time, my beef with his writing is that it seems as soon as something comes along that’s more expensive than his “reference”, it immediately becomes his new reference. I realize that there is a correlation between cost and performance in the high end, but at least to me it seems a little obvious that if if it’s newer and more expensive then it’s better which is not always the case.

As an audio reviewer I think it would be pretty boring to constantly review the next big thing from Onkyo or Denon. So I get where they are coming from for sure. Heats up the audio arms race though.

I'm not sure what the issue is here. This is not a review but some comments. In actual reviews in TAS Wilson does very well. I think reviewers should be able to render off the cuff impressions and I think Wilson probably appreciates the criticism. I doubt bias was involved.
