4 or 8 ohm tap for your Elipsa Speakers

The Elipse SE are rated at 4 ohm, and I have been using the 4 ohm tap on my amp. But this weekend I decided to try the different taps on my Audio Research Ref 110. I think I did this when I first got my Ref 110 and settled on the 4 ohm. Now i am leaning toward the 8 ohm.

I am curious which tap other Elipsa owners with similar systems are using. Do you prefer the 4 or 8 ohm tap on your amp?

I use the 4 ohm setting but you should use what sounds best to you

I keep going back and forth. They sound different but it is not so clear which is better. On some music I prefer the 4 ohm while on other music I prefer the 8 ohm.

Interesting. I use the 4 ohm tap. I will try the 8 ohm tap on my amp as well and report back in a few days.

Is there any possibility of damaging the speakers in any way by using the "wrong" tap?

No. but I have never tried the 16 ohm tap. There is something about the 16 ohm tap and the ground on Audio Research amps. I no longer remember what. But I was cautioned about the 16 ohm tap years ago when I was bi-wiring my Martin Logan SL3s.
