Wow-really? I have talked myself into not worrying about Atmos and going forward with the awesome Bryston but not including HDR support is now a show stopper. HDR is growing and a must have.
I can give up some things but now getting 4K but crippling it is not going to work for me. I hope you will change your direction. If not I guess I will need to go back to the Classe and see how I can make the crippled qty one 2.2 input work. I miss the higher level pre-pros!! Come home!! Don't leave us with Emotiva. Rick |

In my dreams, there is a need for a SP4. With the latest technology. It would have HDMI 2.0b or better, Atmos, room correction, the latest DACs, Roon-capable, etc. I know that I am dreaming...

Bryston SP3 Preamp-Processor
Quote:
Atmos requires too many additional amps. 7.2 in my room is way more than enough. Room correction goes against what makes the SP3 so amazing. The SP3 is about simplicity in the signal path. Not mucking it up with room correction. The latest DAC can be bought aftermarket. I’m currently upgrading to a Esoteric Grandioso K1. And had a Bryston BDA3 which is a fantastic DAC at its price point. Just run the Bryston in Bypass. DACs change to quickly to worry about them in the processor. And when I use them for home theater it sounds fantastic. Roon can be done with Bryston’s BDP which is a great product for the price point. I’ll have one for sale on the marketplace shortly. So no need for a SP4. The SP3 is still kicking ass with just a few extra pieces of gear to stay on the cutting edge of 2 channel. Just my humble opinion |

James, if it can't pass HDR, it will be a hard sell.

Kyle, I agree. My JL Audio subs have a very good room correction to me. I'll work on proper room set-up and not rely on buggy room correction.
I want awesome HT sound and the best stereo sound I can obtain from a single box solution. I'm not wanting a separate stereo preamp at this time. Never say never. Just not right now. I'm also most interested in one of the Aurender offerings. I envisioned this into the SP3 and I'm back in bliss. I want simple but great sound. But I must have full support for all that is available in 4K. If Bryston can move up to 2.0b we are in business for the foreseeable future. Comcast can't even get a 4K box out yet. Not worried about HDMI 2.1 yet. Rick |

The Aurender N10 is a remarkable player, and a great addition to the SP3 when paired with a good DAC. I have mine connected to a Bryston BDA3 currently which runs into my SP3. It sounds fantastic |

It seems we have similar set-ups.
So the SP3 works quite well with KEF Reference? Rick Last edited by DrunkPenguin; 09-14-2017 at 08:55 AM. |

Stan's the man!
Very good James. Sounds very promising thanks so much for letting us be a pest! It seems I know what my next pre-pro will be. Will wait for Bryston now. This was the right move as I would hate to see you lose NEW sales. I will go ahead and ask but do you happen to know the version of the new HDMI card. Is it 2.0a or 2.0b? I can't quite tell from your description. Thanks again- looking forward to when the new unit is available. Rick |
