Default Classe CP-800

Anyone out there using the Classe CP-800?

I just bought one and was wondering if there is a way to run my Mac Mini into the CP 800 and then out of the CP 800 into my other preamp? If so, how? Can you send me instructions? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

Mike

Mike

Are you looking to use the CP800 as a DAC only for USB input sometimes and use CP800 volume control for USB input at other times?

If you go to the menu and select "source setup" Just select a source (I think you can set up 20)....name it what you want...like USB-DAC and "USB-MAIN". select the USB Back as the input for each of those sources....lastly....select the "pass through" box on the first source setup page for the USB DAC source...this will pass through the signal without volume control

and when you select the USB main input....where you did not check passthrough...you will have volume control....

To only use the passthrough signal for your second preamp....setup two different configuration settings one using the main xlr and a second using the aux xlr....you can then tie an input to an individual config....

Very flexible

Bill.....it looks like after further review...your strike call has be overturned

Thanks buddy! I tried to PM you (since I've seen your postings on it and it interested me)...but it you aren't accepting PM's. . Thanks for answering though.

What amps are you running with your CP-800? I'm running the CA-2300 and the combo sounds fabulous together. Makes me wonder how much better those CA-M600's could sound! Why no love for Classe gear? It's world class IMO.

enatai252, good find! What a flexible pre-amp! Should have thought about the Hometheater Pass thru!

However is there a record in/out and perhaps a record monitor?

No record in/out in the CP800....you are right. You can feed a signal from any source into a another preamp or recording device at full signal like I mentioned but its a fair point to say its not identical to record out function.

Classe's SSP 800 and CT SSP surround processors do have a second zone which serves as a record out...I use each of these in separate rooms...and one is the source for the whole house sound system. And while these are great processors they do not have the USB functionality of the CP800 which is incredible.

The record monitor/record out feature seems to be fading in some of the new preamps...even the ARC preamps have downgraded that functionality...my Ref 2 has a separate selector for record out...while my Ref 5 SE and Ref 40 lose the separate record selector

Mike...I switch from using the CP800 with an ARC VS115, Classe CA 2200 or directly into my Stax Omega energizer

I also use a CA2200 and CA3200 combo with the SSP800 for our family room. Other than the expensive DVD player...I find the Classe gear to provide a high level of sound quality and value at a reasonable price

Jim...great forum...can't argue with the value...

Have you done any room correction or calibration with the SSP-800?

The only calibration I have done is having my dealer set up at Dolby reference levels with a SPL meter. In the room with the CT SSP. I have a pair of JBL 212s running off the LFE channel and I did run its built in calibration with the mic.

The family room uses a Thiel SS2 and powerpoints and used a SPL meter only

I have not updated to HDMI 1.4 which was a software/hardware change. Since I bought the SSP 800when it came out....I did have software change done but dealer did it for me. I also have all Mac in the house but run VMware Fusion
