I would be interested in a Q7 at some point. It is a "super speaker." It would fit in my room. It would be the only speaker that I would consider other than my Maxx3/Thor combo, but I would keep my Thor and add the Q7. It's truly amazing how compact this speaker really is. It opend up tremendous possibilities for folks with relatively limited space. As pointed out elsewhere, it's not necessairly that one's sound is "bad", but when the magic goes, so does the listening. In a few years I'll be ready for a change, i.e to re-enter the hunt again. Perhaps there will be a Q7 in my future. It's a true "super speaker".

while I suppose it's true I can't imagine anyone with the resources to buy a pair of Q7's would have to be concerned with 'limited space' , besides building a system around them with anything less than a stellar room makes no sense in my book.

Great point. You need the room and electronics to go with them. A couple of years ago the M5 was the latest and greatest. A couple of years from now there will be a new latest and greatest. And so it goes. You are talking about a 500k stereo system. If you can do it and want to....... It's same with watches, Ferraris, etc.

depends on where you live.... in Hong Kong, you can be rich enough for a Q7 and the best upstream system, but cannot afford the room!

For Hong Kong residents, is it true then that because of space limitations the Mini in its time was literally flying out the dealers showroom? If so, are all these buyers now dumping it for the new q1 or any other space saving speaker of later vintage?

As for stating that the S5 is 'way better' than the Wilson XLF is your opinion and that's fine but have you heard the two in the same acoustical enviroment ? FWIW, give me a pair of Logan CLX's and a couple of good subs over the S5 any day .......hell I'll take the Logan combo over the Q5 ! and yes I have listened to all the above in the same listening enviroment (Overture, Wilmington, De)

so I've read, looking forward to hearing them soon.
I demoed the Q5 directly against the CLX with JL sub and preferred the CLX which I ultimately bought. We demoed with McIntosh gear similar to my system. The dealer said that the Mac gear was not a good match for the Q5 and I took him at his word.

I have heard M5s and Mini IIs on a number of occassions and was very impressed. The engineering behind Magicos is fascinating to me. I would love to get some more demo time with them. However, I have also fallen madly in love with the MBL 101e II and I would be surprised if I found the comparably priced Q5 to better suit my tastes.

As far as subs and the CLX goes, they are a bitch to match up! Running the CLX full range with a JL f113 simply does not work. My next purchase will likely be a Bryston 10B crossover and a second f113 sub. I believe that will solve my problem. I know the CLX+f113 sub has the potential for greatness, but I just need to get there!

The CLXes have their issues, but they are only as colored as what you feed them. Not sure what you mean by anemic either, the whole problem with mating them to a sub is that they are so fast and accurate.

Yes, McIntosh with Magico is the wrong match: I listened one to a Mc with a Magico, it was not good... to be honest, there are a lot of brands which are doing much better amps than McIntosh these days..., Mc is living (very well) on their past: go to listen to a Dartzeel, Vitus, Hegel, Ayre, Constellation, Gryphon, Devialet.... and many others, the Mc will sound to you bloated and slow.
I know very well the CLX: while I like their transparency, they don't have the weight of any model in the Q serie (which are as transparent). The Fathom is a great sub (I have 2 in my HT), but I always found the addition of a sub works like a "patch"... it fixes one issue, but generate others (loss of coherency for example).
The MBL is a very interesting speaker, but a different type of sound than a Magico or an electrostat: it really depends on what you are looking for and what sound attribute you value! Before buying a pair of Magico, I seriously considered the MBL101. I like the amazing feeling it gives to be immersed in the sound. But on the other side, it lacks the transparency, the precision of imaging and the tonal neutrality of a Magico, and I don't like the fact it uses a ported bass: slower and less definition than a good closed bass.

Just finished the Harley review. Mighty impressive speakers. The engineering sounds spectacular.
