Has anyone tried these new Psvane KT88T tubes

I see there's a new version of the Psvane Treasure Tubes, the KT88-T

Has anyone tried them?

Their web page says they have a more modern sound. Whether that's a good thing or not, I'm not sure.

Chuck.......At almost $1000 for a quad set, it would be difficult for me to whip up enough enthusiasm to spend $4k re-tubing my MC2301's with Chinese made tubes, no matter what persona comes with them. I feel the same about Shuguang Treasures, too. Yes, there are some glowing reviews from owners, but I have to ask myself if the differences users say they hear are proportional to 5 times the price of Russian made Gold Lion KT88's.

I am perhaps one of the few folks who don't like the gold lions, and had bad luck with them. My MC275 had to go to the shop twice while I ran those.

For those people who don't have as many tube sockets to fill it might be worth a try. It's just another tweak I guess. Some people would spend that much on cables, etc, so why not tubes.

If I remember I think Ron C really liked the first version of these tubes.

Chuck.......I see your point about the tube cost versus cable costs, but when you are looking at 16 power tubes at a time, plus a few spares for good measure, it gets pricy quick.

I am surprised to hear about your issues with the Gold Lions. I used them in all three of my MC275 MkV amps with no problems. What happened to your amplifiers, and what made you think it was due to the GL's?

The GL's failed and took out 5 watt resistors in the amp - twice.

I don't remember, I get tubes from a few places.
I would have pulled them out anyway, because I didn't hear what all the fuss was about when I listened to them in the amp.

I'm asking because I heard that there would be poor quality GLs sold by some retailers....

I guess that's possible, Maybe they got a batch that didn't test that well at a better cost to improve their margins.

Chuck.......Are you going to give the Psvane KT88's a try? I will be most interested in your impressions if you decide to try a quad of them in your MC275.
