Default Last male Northern White Rhino has died

So sad that humanity continues to destroy the planet and everything that inhabits it.

The last male Northern White Rhino on this planet has died in a zoo from age related complications. Poaching them for their horn has killed off an entire population over the years and now the last known male is dead. Goodbye Northern White Rhino, forgive us, the human sinners for we do not learn until it is too late.

There is hope! Scientists collected semen from this rhinoceros for years and have it cryogenically preserved. They are collecting eggs from the remaining females for in vitro fertilization. So it may be possible to save the species, although lack of genetic diversity is a real issue.

Western Black Rhino has been extinct since 2006. Javan Rhino population is now around 60.

My kids will not have some animals I grew up fascinated about and it's an incredibly sad thought. We are terrible stewards of this planet. From mammoths and North American lions to modern rhinos, we've been ushering in another mass extinction event for ten thousand years.

It is sad, and as Tom mentioned science can bring these animals back close if not at 100%.

How do you make a difference when the minority has an illegal market, dunno.

From an audiophile perspective if buyers used that same money to bring Audio bliss to market with speakers, amps and power cables it may serve better in a healing fashion then rhino horn and dick.
