"Unecessary Drama"

As AA closes in on 1500 members with blistering growth, I find myself needing to make some reminders.

One of the things that makes us so unique is that we do not have Moderators or Administrators 24/7 moving, deleting, and censoring our every post.

We go way off topic most of time and go full circle back on track, all the while having fun.

My points are now the following:

If you are not a Sponsor (paying $300 per year, please do not plug or post links to your site) this is unfair to those that do pay, and will not be permitted.

Please do not make disparaging or disrespectful remarks on the board regardless who they are directed to, yes myself included. Rest assured these won't be permitted and will have consequences. If you feel you were provoked, please bring it to my attention via PM.

Most importantly, think before you post. I have three general guidelines for everyone;

Is it kind?

Is it True?

Is it Necessary?

This is a forum for educational & enjoyment purposes.

With that said, your regular programming is already in session.

Wow, 1500 member's in such a short time. Audio Aficionado is unique among audio website, one I hope to see prosper and grow. It is toward this goal that I support the three guide line questions that need to be considered when posting here:

Is it kind?
Is it True?
Is it Necessary?

With the AA community growing, and new members coming on board daily, it is essential that each of us self moderates our posts with these three guide lines in mind. This is the root of the formula that allows Audio Aficionado to maintain its open, welcoming, and friendly atmosphere, where all of us can contribute, learn, and most of all enjoy our friendships.

I am the first to admit that every now and then I am guilty of developing a little attitude about one point or another, and I can toss barbed hooks with the best of them. Ultimately it serves no positive purpose, and changes no one's mind. I learned from my experiences, and will continue to make an honest effort to be considerate and courteous. I said this to make a point. We all have moments when our nerves become grated. It is a natural first reaction when feathers are fluffed to start taking shots in defense. The Audio Aficionado community is really no different than life in general. For us to coexist harmoniously we have to channel our energy in a positive way, even when we find ourselves in disagreement on a particular subject. Self moderation is the key to our success. Remembering, and heeding the three points above will go a long way toward insuring that Audio Aficionado remains The Friendly Forum For High-End Audio.

That's my nickles worth on this lovely Wednesday morning.

Excellent set of guidelines. I guess this invalidates the Libertarian approach.

I know I've posted or sent an email before, knowing I might regret it. But I've also looked away from rude posts that I've felt someone should comment on. It can be hard to hold back in the heat of the moment.

The guidelines look like good ones to follow. What works best for me is to take a walk and think about it for a while before posting/emailing, etc., especially if it is possibly going to make a point and upset someone. As I've noted, sometimes it's hard and the worst can come out.

Point made. Forgive and forget. Lets move on...........
