As far as I'm concerned it's unforgivable to forget a DBS pack but... the difference between Hurricane and the old generation power cables is too big not to upgrade. Better late than never in this case!

Meanwhile did some upgrades, coming up from only stock PCs...

Wall -> Thunder -> Niagara 1000
Niagara 1000 -> Thunder -> PowerAmp
Niagara 1000 -> NRG-4 -> PreAmp (no more space left so have to buy a new Rack)
Niagara 1000 -> WW Silver Electra 7 -> Wadia CD
Niagara 1000 -> a very small Computer for Tidal, Netflix, ...

Other Wall -> Sun -> NRG-4 -> B&W DB2D Subwoofer (will replace with Thunder this summer)
And minor stuff like the TV, TV-Box, cheap BD-Player.

Replaced the Fuse within the PowerAmp.

Overall the whole system sounds way more responsive. More transients (love it). Faster. Incredible. I guess even the Thunders should be better than the old Top of the line just because of the new 3-cable-braided-Design.

Will replace the outlet soon with Furutech.

(Replaced the IC from Pre to Power with AQ Fire. WOW! All HDMI are now AQ Carbon.)

Lots of money (for me) within just 2,5 months.

I wouldn't say that in an absolute sense, as I feel the Hurricane and NRG WEL (old version) are at a similar level of performance. But by all reports the Thunder itself should be very close to this level, and that makes any of the new cables WAY more cost effective than the old NRG lineup.

The old NRG WELs (of which I have 2) would need to come down to 1000 (3 ft) on the used market to be price competitive. Though some might still like the idea of all silver cables, which can support a small premium?

Nice upgrades!! I'm considering a Niagara 1000 and some Thunders for my Stax 009/Focal Utopia/SOTA Nova headphone rig.

Beside "get the best you can"... Does it make sense replacing the Thunder with a Hurricane just on the Subwoofer? (B&W DB2D)

(The Thunders for Amp and Wall->Niagara will be upgraded next couple of days to Hurricanes. Pre will also get a Hurricane, replacing a WW Silver Electra 7.)

I would say no. I think any proper high current power cord would be enough for a sub. Doubtful that anyone could tell the difference at these frequencies in blind listening. FWIW I have a DB1.

My dealer got a visit from the Audioquest representative. There will be new hurricanes. They will remain technically the same, but have a new blue look. He could not give an exact delivery date.
I'm curious to see what my new Hurricane will look like.

I will be receiving the new High Fidelity CT-2 power cord to compare to my Audioquest Hurricane.

Got 2 of the new "blue" Hurricanes today. It has a dark navy/black look, like the Water interconnects. It is odd that there's such a huge price gap from Hurricane to Dragon, when their interconnect line has so much granularity: 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4500. Same with speaker cables, where they have gradually increasing silver content to hit the price points. Maybe they intend to introduce a Dragon "Lite"?

Bad flash iPhone photo to illustrate the difference. I was so close to fully stocking the main rig in all red Hurricanes...
