Well, the LP2.1D must be pretty well at it's best (as is my Etna) now.......it sounds excellent from cold switch on, needs about 45/60 minutes to get going .........but I really feel that after two hours is when it's at it's best - a warmed up cartridge helps as well naturally. Also after about a month I upgraded from LAMM ML 2s to Lamm ML 2.2s which also improved the drive and resolution of my system. It's certainly the best phono stage I have had at home, but then I haven't had many of late!

About three weeks ago we slipped it into a friend's system which is quite different to mine - solid state Ayre pre/monoblocks and an Audio Flyte phonostage/Lyra Atlas.......it was clear that both phonostages are excellent. It became apparent that (to me anyway) the LP2.1D needed a good warm up........we took it out after 90 minutes or so, which in retrospect was too early, but both units were excellent.I'm just getting on with enjoying my vinyl at the moment......

With the mention of SUTs earlier in this thread I thought that I would mention that a friend lent me his Lyra Erodion just prior to Christmas to play around with (his SUT of choice is a Kondo). Well it's been in and out of the system connected in with 1m Stealth Sakra...........initially I thought it added something positive to the mix - it clearly is a fine unit, but with extended use the LP2.1D to my ears is ultimately better without it as a partner - simply not needed. Following the suggested earthing arrangements in the manual it is very quiet but not as quiet as when it's not there naturally (cables perhaps?). Initially, I felt it gave the music a touch more body (and maybe adding a bit of warmth to the LAMM ML2.2s neutrality?), but with extended use, maybe a figment of my imagination. I have been using it extensively over the last few days and I have no doubt that there is a small, but noticeable loss of resolution and clarity when it's connected - but that's being very picky (connecting cables too long?). Primarily, and most importantly to me was that when it was in my system, my listening seemed to lose a bit of "that something" that I experience with LAMM amplification.........................

SUT is like resistor loading, it need to match to the cartridge. The Erodion is for lyra cartridge. If u use something else. It may not be a good match. And the connecting wire is also important. But if you are not using a high end cartridge of 5K or higher, stick to the build in as
The low cost cartridge does not a expensive SUT and interconnect.

Fremer review of the LAMM LP 2.1 Deluxe in March issue of Stereophile, for those interested.
