Default need advice on Burmester system

I would love to have two of 911 MK3 as mono block to drive Magico Q3.
but due to incompatibility with ARC preamp I may also have to
sacrifice ARC Ref40 if I want to use 911, then what pre amp would be
better between 088 vs 077 ? 088 newer model, 077 is higher level model.
Will 111 server sound as nice as there top CD player like 069 ?

also, between two mojo 911MK3 vs Stereo 909 with similar price what should be
better sounding ?

what is sound character of Burmester electronics ?
Really thanks.

A mono-pair of 911's is a top-class choice. About the preamp depends according your budget. The 088's (top line preamp) is a superb preamp, but the 077's (reference line preamp) is better, especially the version with PSU (power supply unit).

The music server 111 is a combo composed by a reference preamp and the dac of 069's. Sonically I don't know if the 069's sounds better than 111's. Surely choicing the 111's you get a reference digital source and a reference preamp in one unit only. Also the 069's is equipped with an excellent preamp section. Moreover the 069's is outstanding with the power supply unit.

At my ears a mono-pair of 911's sound better than a 909 stereo. I personally choiced the 911's monoblock.

Burmester gears sound perfectly as per below listed reviews.

Burmester 911 mk3
Tone Audio #26, Jeff Dorgay, 2009

http://www.tonepublications.com/maga...o-magazine-26/

"I continue to draw the same conclusion with the 911 MK 3. It has a huge, three-dimensional soundstage that I would normally associate with tubes, with the pace and drive I would normally associate with solid state, yet the weaknesses of neither. After six months of listening day in and day out, I can find no fault with the Burmester 911 MK 3 and am happy to say that this will become my new reference amplifier. It was dropped off of a truck on its way to me and I’ve often played it continuously for 24 hours day after day when breaking in new speakers, and it’s never let me down in any way. The 911 MK 3 offers perfect balance in my book; it is highly detailed and articulate, yet not harsh, and it is tremendously musical without being dark or rolled off in any way. This is truly the best power amplifier I have ever experienced. I can’t recommend it highly enough."

The Absolute Sound, Golden Ear Award, 2007
http://www.avguide.com/buyers-guide/...den-ear-awards

"Quite simply one of the best-sounding solid-state amps to thus far lighten our doorstep. It is an advance over the earlier Burmester electronics in that it is not only close to completely neutral but it shows no trace of the normally ubiquitous transistor texture and grain in the upper octaves. More interesting yet, to these ears, is how happy it is driving all sorts of speakers, from the ultra-revealing Kings to the sweetly euphonic Coltranes. An amp for all seasons, and virtually all setups."

Audiophilia, Star Component, 2002
The Burmester 911 MK3 Power Amplifier

"And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what the 911 brings to the table: Honesty, brilliance, totally clear and absolutely refined sound, great power, adaptability, and pride of ownership. If it is within your means, purchase at your pleasure. Is one note worth near 20K? I think Beethoven may have thought so. Very highly recommended."

What Hi-Fi, 2012
http://www.whathifi.com/review/911-mk-iii-monoblocs

"Such a sky-high price tag leads to massively high expectations when it comes to build, finish and performance. And the biggest compliment we can pay to the whole amazing pre/power set-up is that it’s every bit as good as you’d hope. This is one case where you really do get what you pay for."

Hello Khun Toga,

I had a conversation with Jeff Dorgay recently to hear his impressions of the 911mk3 2 years after his original review (link above in Rocco's post). As part of that discussion he wrote:

"And for those needing a touch of tubey - ness, the ARC REF 5SE makes a brilliant match for the 911mk. 3. Not necessarily a better sound than going with all Burmester, but a nice variation on the theme."

I am pretty sure the ARC preamps all have the same output impedance and hence running your ref40 single-ended should be no issue at all.

I agree with Rocco and Joost. I am thinking of replacing my 077 with ext. PS for the 111 music server. The factory mono 911mk3's should sound better than the 909mk5 and easier to move around. The 111 has a reference dac, preamp and cd player so it should take care of everything with less cables also. A killer compact package.

Thanks everyone. Sound like 911m3 is really a killer.
These will replace my Moon W7M.
Jdebonth,Regarding pairing with ARC, Why do I have to use single-ended connection between ARC and Burmester ? in ARC specification, it stated that it has 600 ohm of output impedance and 20Kohm minimum load, that is Burmester 911's input impedance is way lower than minimum value ARC recommended.
111 is very interesting, now I don't have any source left in system. I really like sound of Accuphase 900//901, but someone said 111 is very hot product that I should keep eyes on it. I am not very good at computer things, so music server is not very easy for me. I saw my dad spent time ripping his CD into Olive4HD and I don't feel like fun. most of the time is spend on ripping rather than playing music.
Let's see when pricing announced.

Thanks again.

On paper it is a good match and conforming to ARC's spec of a 20k min load.

ARC REF5 SE (and REF40) output impedance: 600 ohms Balanced, 300 ohms SE main (2), 20K ohms minimum load.

Burmester 911mk3 input impedance: 22.9kOhms Unbalanced, 1.88kOhms Balanced

I talked with my dealer about the differences between a pair of 911's and one 909.
I haven't heard them in an A/B comparison, but he did. He said the 909 plays with even more weight and authority, but also had a touch more finesse.
Of course, it doesn't fit in a rack...
But given at the same price, I would consider it. You also get 20 kg more

Good luck with your choice! It will be fun anyway!

The 909 reminds me of a very good looking mini-fridge.
