SCAudiophile.......Yes, and not too far from the truth for a number of audiophiles.

Ha! Funny. Ain't that the truth.....the question is whether it's worth the price of admission? Yes!

Buck, as an old fart that's been at it a long time (Tommy Roe - 'Sweet Pea' , my first 45 I bought with allowance money) , if I had to start from scratch today.....I wouldn't but with that being said my thousands of LP's are not for sale !

I know it all boils down to personal taste, but as a "developing" audio aficionado, I like the idea of both vinyl and digital files. When I consider that legitimate recordings on vinyl can be found for $1-$5, but I don't think most high-end digital recordings can be found for less than $10, my opinion tends toward the LP. Am I missing something here? In the end, I want a good setup that produces good sound with good recordings and reproduction. I'm not too concerned with "looking cool" with whatever format I choose (though I admit that the glow from a tube amp is as irresistible to me as a bug zapper with a mosquito...:-)

Both are good just like different kind of foods are equally enjoyable; it all depends on the mood your in. I find that some recordings I have sound better on vinyl and vise versa. Now that I stream a lot of my music with roon I have not purchased any new digital music while I still buy vinyl.
