If you are worried about the upgrade merry-go-round then I suggest you jump right to the X2's or XLF's. You will then have all the time you desire to worry about matching amps and associated gear. The Alexandria line is much easier to drive than either the Sasha or Alexia. They are also easier to place in a room.

The truth is, I am not capable of buying such gear outright. The only reason I can even do what I'm thinking of here is my dealer's tradeup program and a lot of credit. |

I'm not sure where I even want to go, because I haven't heard a lot of different products in my room. But the holy grail would be a system that can make Norah Jones or Jewel sound like they are sitting in the room, yet still be able to knock some shingles off when I play Rage Against The Machine. What I have now has a decent balance between the two extremes, but I've heard better on the voices/acoustics - By ARC gear, and by Alexias. |

If you don't mind your system being a slow work in progress and it taking several years to get all of the components you want in place, then I would go for the Alexia's. They should yield an immediate and significant improvement in the sound of your system. This will only improve as you upgrade each component in your system to the level of the Alexia's. The good news is that your current components will certainly be adequate in the interim, although they won't be bringing out the full potential of the Alexia's. You will grow into them. In my opinion, the first component you should upgrade after the speakers should be the DAC. At any rate, it sounds like you have a unique opportunity to step up to an extremely high quality loudspeaker. I like the fact the Alexia's have some of the DNA of Wilson's top of the line speakers but in a much more room friendly package. They are a reasonably sized speaker for the level of performance. Best, Ken |

The shortest distance between two points is a straight line.
Just sayin

Goodness knows I am not the poster boy for restraint (see my sig), but I would never buy audio gear using credit. Sorry for being a downer.

My answer was "supposed" to be partially tongue in cheek but didn't come off that way. Most people cannot even afford the Sasha let alone let alone consider the added cost to move to the Alexia. I would never suggest someone spend anything on this crazy hobby if those funds should be allocated to sane purchases. Just remember when listening to different set-up from your own you are often caught up and impressed because it is different not always better. Is your dealer able to loan you some AR gear to try out in your room with your Sasha's? You may find that your current combo is just a gratifying. |
