I 100% agree. Although, when I first bought my original "Fire-Bottle KT88" I did try 807 tubes. They overheated the PSU transformer and blew the fuse.

I actually still own my 807 pair + adapters, I've just never tried them again after that happened.

The amp I pictured above is the custom "6V6-H" headamp I ordered from DH. I've never tried 807 with it, but I assume I'll get the same result of what happened to my FB-KT88.

With all that said, ya 807 was actually my favorite pentode I'd ever tried. I got a good 100hr-ish hours of play time on them before it blew the fuse. Had the sweetest treble and most airy presentation of any tube I had tried.

A few months back in this thread, Straitwire showed off a custom 807 that was built for a customer (not sure if they post on this thread tho). Something I'd be interested in. In fact I'd be really interested in an 807 parallel (quad set of 807).

I've been looking for a 16-24wpc tube amp for a long time now, to accommodate my eventual speaker upgrade. I'd previously posted about 845 amps, but they're so hard to find. They either have bad designs (Chinese stuff) or are $$$. Still jamming out with my original FB-KT88, for now.

Hi everyone,
New member and first post. I've been looking for my 1st tube amplifier to pair with my Tekton Enzo XL's in my 14x17 room. The Inspire has caught my eye and I'm hoping to get some input on how it might match with my system. I've sent Dennis a message thru Ebay but haven't heard back yet.

I'm pretty confident that 5-10 watts would be enough for my needs and I like the look/design of the Inspire 6FLV amps he's been listing lately.

I'll keep reading the thread but is there any feedback or suggestions that might help me out? Does anyone here have the Tekton Enzo XL's paired with one of the Inspire amps?

Thanks in advance for the help!

FYI, the Line Magnetic 845 amps are well regarded.

I have a PSE with IIPS and really like 6L6's. I have not tried 807's in it.

I drove Klipsch Heresy 3's, 99 db, with a triode strapped Inspire amp and LP27a preamp, 3-12 watts in a 14x21 room and the combo was quite good.

I like the 807's better than the 6L6's in mine. IMO they have a better overall tone beating out RCA Blackplates or GE 6L6GC's

From what I can tell the Enzo XL's are somewhere between 90.5 and 93db (depending on the reviewer, it seems) efficient and typical listening levels are <90db so I feel pretty good that 10 watts should be plenty, especially with the room size and relatively close listening distance (about 8 feet).

Looks like a new model has hit Ebay, the 45-v, running 45 or A3 tubes!

So just making sure, would the 807 tubes w adapters work in an Inspire FireBottle Universal SET?

Thanks.
