Paul1........I suggest you try harder to be good. Terry is correct, we value civility here. This is The Friendly Forum for High-End Audio. There are plenty of other forums on the Internet where you can be bad and no one cares. This isn't one of them. There is no reason to be intentionally rude and abrasive to a member of our forum. I'd just as soon not, but if you chose to ignore this friendly advice we can take it to the next level. Please exercise good judgement and be nice when posting to Audio Aficionado.

I have hooked up the Audio Research amp a couple time over the past week or so. It sounds really good, very open and airy... after about an hour or so I start feeling something is missing... detail... incredible smoothness, and the image sort of wanders a little. I hook the First Watt back up... and there it is... detail, image that is so wide, so deep, and fixed in place... the ARC is awesome, but the FW just gives me something, to my ears, that is very special...

Randy

All you need is a pair of those monitors that Joe posted the picture of. Both amps would be a great match.

Yea, I agree. They look pretty special. A bit more efficient, and 8 ohm.... would the 90 dB versus 85 dB off set the power doubling on 4 ohm versus 8 ohm.... hmmm...

Would love to compare them against the MC for sure!

Randy - I am glad that you have found the sound you are looking for!

Thank you Greg... the First Watt is something special for sure. It has plenty of power for me, but having a little more would certainly not hurt ...

The Audio Research is also an excellent sounding amplifier, and on it's own would be fantastic for me. But the First Watt is the best sounding amplifier I have ever heard. Having both is nice for a change up once in a while ....

Randy.......A 3dB improvement in speaker efficiency would be like doubling your amplifier power. A 6dB increase in speaker efficiency would be like quadrupling your amplifier power.
