I'd also recommend not listening to them for at least 30 hrs - you wil thnk they sound like mush for a start.

Best sound I ever had from the 650's was from a Lavry DA10 XLR straight into the 650's - wicked good.
Thanks Andy ! Will do as you say and will plug it in the headphones jack of the C48 for at least 30 hours.
Did not receive it yet while it was a next day delivery with Amazon Premium but the french Post is completely out of the game when lots of packages arrive, before Christmas is the worst time to order anything !
Will see if the little Shiit Audio Valhalla amp has enough juice for it or not.
The 300B Manley can drive any headphone so it may end up next to it.

Jerome, Ultrasones are not by bag of tea either, a little harsh sounding to my ears.

I just bought a Parrot Zik blue tooth headphones. Whilst not the best quality I'm sure they are nice and comfortable, not too expensive, pretty funky looking and good for a trip or two

If I had to buy a pair of high end phones, either the Sennheiser HD800 or the Grado PS1000i would be my choice. The Sennheiser is much warmer but I don't like the all covering earmuffs which make me hot.

Oh..I'll have to try the Parrot Zik's - thanks Howe.

I agree the HD 800's wil be in my future once I have the quality front end to let them shine - Gosh I hope i haven't steered you wrong Jerome - perhaps you would have been better getting the 800's straight away - your front end is, after all, superb. Oh well.

Howie - I'm really sorry you had problems with your AudioSysteme vinyl cleaner - I LOVE mine - have cleaned 130 records so far - its allowed me to toss out about 8 as hopeless cases and the rest have come up brand new. and the new ones sound amazing. Perhaps Reiner would look after you personally?

Andy,

No no do not worry ! I'm not a headphones guy at all. I have set up a little headphone system on my bed table : A SB Touch, a Valhalla Schiit tube amp and a Bifrost dac. I like my 325i but I just wanted to try an other flavor.
Using it only 1 hour per week maximum, when I want to read in bed and be available for my spouse ( who always tells me that I spend too much time in my "cave" ) in case she wants to talk.
So you see, the front end is not top notch at all !

Howie,
Thank you !
I'm looking at the PS1000i too but never imagined that the Senn's were warmer. The 650 should be fine in my little system anyway.

Andy,

I have to warmly thank you : the HD650 arrived yesterday and after 24 hours of continuous break in, they already sound gorgeous. I love them. And my Schiiit Valhalla too. They also sound really gorgeous on the MC2205 but I don't care for the C48 headphone output : too cold and without charm.
I much much prefer them over my Grado SR325i. Night and day.
And yes, much warmer and musical.
I tried Senns years ago and found them cold and boring so I never went back. Now I think that I want a pair of 800's although the 650 are truly wonderful.

THANK YOU ANDY THANK YOU ANDY THANK YOU ANDY..........

Ahhh...excellent mate - glad you like them: the Valhalla is a very good head amp for them. Yup the 800's you will love as well - but they aren't as easy to please can as the 600/650.

Enjoy and have a lovely holiday season

Jérôme... Glad you are enjoying the HD650's, Senn makes some fine Cans.
