Default Whole House Audio

Hello,

My wife and I are planning a remodel of our home. Besides bathrooms, I, of course, want a whole house audio system and listening room (probably with a home theater element for the family to enjoy together).

Right now I am looking for suggestions on the whole house audio such as recommendations on ceiling speakers, multichannel amplifiers and source equipment.

I am more interested in using an iPad or iPhone to control the system as opposed to wall controls. The audio would be background music while cooking for instance or casual listening.

Right now we enjoy Pandora using Sonos app and speakers. In the near future we would look to get Tidal. Maybe a streaming device such as Bluesound Vault 2 would provide better sound.

Any suggestions you can share would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I had most of the rooms wired for ceiling speakers when I built my house some years ago, including running Transparent Audio cables (not outrageously expensive) to all the rooms. I used Sonos for convenience of selecting/combining rooms to play the same music or different music in different rooms/zones. Don't recall the brand of the ceiling speakers I used but I had a quality multichannel amplifier, similar to Parasound 12 channel driving the speakers. The result was outstanding.

Having said that, I doubt I would ever repeat that process. I would simply go with Sonos Play1 or Play 3 speakers for all the rooms I would want music in. In fact that is exactly what I did this time around. Even better results and much, much cheaper. A ceiling speaker will not beat a Sonos Play3 speaker.

Canton makes some of the best, and affordable in ceiling/wall speakers. In addition, I can hook you up (pun intended) with a spool of WW cable for all your wiring needs (again very affordable)

Found some pics from that install I did back in the day. Like I said, it was great but I would simply go with Sonos speakers for every room you need.

Thank you Gentlemen.

I was thinking to keep a cleaner appearance with the ceiling speakers but the Sonos speakers are simpler.

Anyone have experience with Bluesound ?
