Great table. I still enjoy my old Classic 1 using a Cadenza Bronze and feed into a Chinook.

I had a friend over night before last and we were comparing some vinyl to cd and even he, who would never buy a turntable, preferred the sound of the new TT to my digital setup. He admitted the vinyl was easier to listen to but he still wouldn't buy a TT because of the ease of use of digital.

Looks great! I've been thinking about adding the 3D arm to my Classic 2/3 hybrid, wish I could pull the trigger on the new Prime Signature but I just don't like that look. Enjoy your Classic!

I just went from a Classic 1 to the Prime and I'd have to say the biggest difference has to come from the 3D arm. I'd say the Classic with the metal arm is more neutral and the Prime 3D is a bit warmer, and has a bit better bass. Is it better? Hard to say but it's different. In my system I can use the additional warmth with leaner sounding speakers. I'd check with Harry at VPI, he's been clearing out some used demo arms.

Thanks for the tip, I just joined the VPI forum yesterday, I emailed Harry. I'm looking to move to a Cadenza Bronze over my 2M Black as well. Those upgrades should keep me set for a long time.

"Long time" can be subjective I've always wanted one of the 3D arms, but they used to be I think $2,200 new and I knew the prices would come down as the technology advanced so I was a hold out. I wonder if the 3D arm would be too warm for me, I'm already using a tube pre. I guess I can always resell it if I'm not satisfied. Otherwise I really have no reason to move away from my Classic 2/3, the piano black plinth matches my McIntosh gear perfectly.

I just heard that the Prime Sig won't be out until late Oct/early Nov. And the more I look at it I actually am starting to prefer the Piano Black Classic Sig. I may pull the trigger on the Classic instead of waiting.
Pics are beautiful. That may be what has me thinking Classic.

The Piano Black is a great looking plinth. I'm sure the Prime Signature will be a great table, but it may be a preference in terms of sound of the Classic vs it. Once you get that far up the chain it's more about what's different than "better" IMO. Either way I'm sure your Cadenza Red will pair well with whichever VPI table you choose.
