Default Sonos w/ Cullen Mod
Here is an email response from my recent request to Cullen regarding their mod to the Sonos ZP90.


Hello Ivan,

Thank you very much for taking the time to contact us with your inquiry. Your email has been forwarded to me from Cullen Circuits. You have reached Wyred 4 Sound. We worked in the same building as Cullen Circuits during the start up of our business. We have since moved locations and Cullen Circuits is no longer operating.

We do offer the Sonos mod but cannot provide any accommodations for the modded unit. Your best bet would be to get a sonos from a dealer at accommodation pricing and send it to us for modification.

Feel free to ask questions you may have about the mod and I will do my best to answer them.

I agree. I had a ZP90 modded by Rick Cullen about 18 months ago. He turned it for me in a day, but I had to send him one of mine. He said they didn't want to keep any inventory and as such was subject to availability like everyone else.

In November, I bought a new Cullen Sonos ZP90 modded to run at 44.1kHz (normally they up-sampling to 96kHz) so my HDCD's would continue to pass the full unaltered bit stream to my Cary 306/200. I did not want the up-sampling since I prefer to have up-sampling turned off for most of my CDs. I was surprised the bit stream was being modified by the Cullen Circuit unit and the HDCD recordings will not work from the modified ZP90 (they do work with my unmodified ZP90). I have tried several times to contact Rick by email and he has not replied.

I phoned Clint today and Rick Cullen is now working for Wyred 4 Sound. Rick was not able to answer my questions about my unit, but Rick said he would talk to someone about it if I would send another email to him.

Clint let me know that the original Cullen Sonos mod can still be purchased from Wyred 4 Sound. A new Sonos mod that supports I2S with their DAC2 is also now available.
