Saving A Whale
Can you imagine how insignificant you would feel being in the water next to something so big and beautiful?
 If you read this front page story in the San Francisco Chronicle, you would have read about a female humpback whale which had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines. She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her body, her tail, her torso, a line tugging in her mouth. A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farallon Islands (outside the Golden Gate ) and radioed an environmental group for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her. They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, and nudged them, pushed them gently around as she was thanking them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives. The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth said her eyes were following him the whole time, and he will never be the same.

The size difference between the diver and the humpback whale is astounding. Can you imagine having an eyeball the size of your head following you as you set about cutting rope from the whale's mouth? Incredible.

We go whale watching every year when we go to Hawaii. We never tire of seeing these mammals playing in the ocean. Every so often we are able to view them up close if they decide to swim near the boat. We have actually had the spray from a blow wash over us on one occasion.

I love all kind of animals. They are all able of emotions and they can share ( they need to actually ) their emotions. We have uncountable scientific proofs of this intelligence of the animals. But some of them are truly amazing and the big ones in the ocean have a special place. I believe that is why they are specially mentioned in the Genesis. When you think that this endangered species are still being hunted by Japan and Norway, under false scientific reasons, it just makes me sick.
