Default About vt200 vs ref250

I had own a vt 200 mk1 which did it several mods as replacing the following parts:

Inifinicaps 0.68uf original for stealth caps same value
Replace 20 wonder caps use as bypass in lateral circuit boards for dinamic caps same value.
The original power cord was replaced by a hubbell ac female conector, then we can use differents power cords..

The tubes we replaced them for svd 6550c power tubes and electroharmonix gold pin signal tubes.

This changes brings several and significant changes in this power beast, faster, more powerful and top notch neutrality.
This amplifier in fact gave more listening sastifaction than my new ref150.

Heard the REF250 on the big XLF's on Friday. Good match, but at times they were working hard. The XLF is likely an easier load than the 3.7.

My local dealer sells McIntosh and now ARC. I decided upon a set of MC601s. I'll post with more details in time. I also picked up a low hours Ref Phono 2 replacing the PH5.

Hello,
I ve owned the VT200MKI also, then changed to VT150SE and Ref300MKI. I don't know if the modification done by one member can help, but the regular version is quite slow, with a very nice medium, right, but very slow, i ve seen also amplifier with a better bass such as the Ref300. If you can find on the second hand market a pair of Ref300MKI, they are really sounding amazing with the reference 3 but even better with an LS5MKII
