Default Seriously downsizing with Accuphase.

First thought was to get E-470 Integrate and DC-37 DAC. But on further reading it appears DC-37 can also be used as a Preamp. And since I do not plan to use analog (Turn Table) any more, it may make more sense to get P-4200 amp and DC-37 DAC. Any thought/experience/input on that?

Banter - If you really want to downsize, consider getting the E-470 with the optional DAC board installed. Then you've got everything (amp, preamp, DAC) in one tidy box.

Using the volume control in the DAC is not recommended in the sonic perspective.

See this thread.

The P-4200 is a Hell of an amp. I heard it extensively at the 2014 CES. I wouldn't pass that one up in favor of the integrated.

Gary and Rock, my dealer recommended that the stand alone DC-37 DAC has more inputs and is of much higher caliber than the plug in card option. But if I do go the E-470 way, I am going to get the AD30 Phono card, in case I want to spin vinyl sometimes.

Has anyone compared the option card Vs. stand alone DAC?

Tommy,

Thank you. I read that thread. So did you go with the C3800? The kind of money they want, you would think it is made of gold!

FWIW, I've tried running DC901 to A200s direct several times with surprisingly good results, the connecting wire (IC) is key determinant here.
On an apple to apple comparison, I prefer to have a pre-amp in the system. However in your case/options, I'd probably choose to run DC37 direct to P4200 instead.
*Presentations could be a little too up-front going direct w/wrong cabling (IC, PC), but when you get/tune them right it could work superb too. Good luck.
