I was suggesting Ron Ong. The 121's in Rosewood would match up nice with the 6600 and would not take up much space. PM to follow Jim |

Welcome to the forum, Ian! I glanced at the PMC website, and noticed soft dome tweets & mids, which has my interest, as the RtR's have been there for me over the decades. I recently started looking for used speakers to go into the 2nd system. But then I got to thinking, if I were to find speakers with greater power handling, and bi-amp capability, and sound as good (or better) as the RtR's, then the RtR's could go to the 2nd system. I'm looking forward to some guidance from you in the future.

The MB2 and the EB1i are almost identical when it comes to the numbers. The MB2 is a stand mounted loudspeaker. Both have about 10 feet of transmission line loading. This allows for deep bass extension at extremely low distortion levels... Getting flat bass response around the 20-30hz range with barely a trace of distortion is something only a transmission line can yield. The faux bass bump at between 50-80hz is something that shouldn't be tolerated. The mid range used in the EB1i is still domed however the power handling and dynamic capability is remarkably exceeded by the MF driver found in the MB2S and the MB2i. The price for the MB2S which is $18,499 does not include stands, nor does the MB2i which is at $20,999. The EB1i is at $15,229... Between the two, the price gap is matched by the jump in performance. The 12" radial driver is more precise even at low level playback, the soundstaging ability of the MB2 is improved over that of the EB1i. If you are looking at between $15-22k, I would recommend taking a look at the IB2i. The bass response is down to 25hz flat, drop off somewhere around 15-17hz. It has the MF of the MB2 and the Nomex Piston driver of the EB1i at around $18K. Personally that is my favorite (almost at the level of the MB2 in a more compact cabinet), and pretty much everyone else at the company would say it is theirs as well. For the EB1i, IB2i, and MB2i 200 watts at 4 ohms would work, although truth be told, these things love power - they will be your amps dictator. Throw as much as you possibly can at it and they will sing the glory. Seriously, we will clip a Bryston 28B without even a whimper coming from our loudspeakers. Anything less than two hundred watts you may want to work with a TB2i or FB1i or OB1i. Even the PB1i has blown through the Mc 1.2kw's. Hope this helps, keep your questions coming! Ian

EB1i is at 118db, moderately unhealthy.
IB2i is at 116db, slightly to moderately unhealthy MB2i & BB5i are at 124db, severely unhealthy These levels aren't the intended playback levels, these are to be factored in the power handling and dynamic capabilities.
