That why should be at least 1 more USB input on frontal or side panel of device. They could hide it under sliding cover or organize it however else. 1 input on back (!) side is not comfortable. Connection of 1 HDD - it's ok, but I need 1 more for USB Flash Memory stick for easy and fast access. Peanuts actually, but for me - great minus as for observer.

The USB board, along with all of the other audio path electronics are at the back panel.
While I concur with what some have said from a cosmetic point of view (I wouldn’t want that “hole” in *my* faceplate - or a plastic / rubber door to cover it) I think the more likely reason is - why would we take great care to keep the power supply as far as we can from the signal path, only to run an input right through the power supply? Even it it was put on the RHS of the front, you still have a cable going from front to back - picking up noise along the way. Avoiding noise is the reason all of the inputs / outputs are directly attached to back panel. Same concept used on the E-03 phone preamp and a major reason it is so darn quiet.

Indeed Ivan. I agree 100%.

A front input might be handy for demo's at audio shows, or friends dropping in with a flash drive, but not for serious listening. As I have stated before; I have never used the front USB input on my Pioneer, but can understand that some might want the convenience.
