Hey RaceCarDriver, what cables are you running with your 800 D3s? Are you bi-wiring them? I own a Black pair myself and am currently researching cables, etc. Mine will be powered by a pair of 1.2Kws

Hi, currently a pair of AQ Go-4 that I had laying around. Previously on my N802s I used AQ Oak cables, but I sold them after I moved as they were too short in the new layout.

This Diamond setup will be all new for me so I am still in the planning/purchasing phase.

Oh, if you're used to Bryston then maybe you dislike the sound from the Mcs.
For me it has a lot of power - yes, great and can be impressive. But it's (for my taste!) too much on the dark side.
I had some great time with the 800D3 and a big Amp from Pass. Maybe worth a look.
But the big Brystons are still great for my opinion. But they're old and i fully understand that they should be changed to something new.

Slowly making progress.

I’ll be picking away at this space over the summer. I am still waiting on several items. The speakers are in temporary positions until I decide where all the gear is going to stay. I don’t want to spend the time/money wiring everything until i’m sure where I want the sources/pre/amps to live, so at the moment wires are ran along the baseboards to the rear of the room. The gears final place will be in one of 2 locations outside of this room. New screen and pre/pro are ordered, just playing the waiting game.

Some Atmos speakers, seating and a MA rack or Salamander piece will need to be decided on next. Then I can start finalizing where everything will live, finish some more painting and add some acoustic treatments.

Right now my Oppo 205 is playing directly into my 7ch amp. That AV8805 can’t show up soon enough, however I am pleasantly surprised by the Oppo running on its own for the time being.

A couple weeks ago I visited a dealer and listened to a pair of 800 D3’s driven by a McIntosh electronics stack that includng 601 amps, and digital source files. Their room was uncommonly large and was well treated.

The point I want to emphasize is this: the sound emanating from the 800’s was as good as I’ve ever heard, any time or any place. I was enthralled and immensely joyful.

It was a wonderful experience. So much so that I want to sell my home that I just spent the last year refurbishing: top to bottom. I want a room wherein I can replicate that vast, 3D sound stage. Nothing tops a superb system in a well executed, purpose built room.

TOBZDV - how do you find the black with dust / cleaning as the black looks fantastic by I’m nervous around the maintenance factor?

I too am looking at the 800D3’s also powered by 1.2Kws so interested in how you find the sound combination??
