Very good video. Most new pop music is done very poorly and this video explains why.

James.......A very interesting video. That same formula of cookie cutter creativity and production are quite prevalent in country music and smooth jazz, too. It's not just pop music that has been thoroughly commercialized into this marketable mold. Thanks for the link. I enjoyed the video.

Yep like the song "The day the music died"
Very little that appeals to me anymore and think it is poor creativity for me and crap recordings, excess compression and lyrics that are to political or just plain boring... No I will tell you how I really feel! |

Sorry. For the most part todays music appeals to me just as much as the stuff I listened to when I was young. If I wasn't finding new music all the time I would be out of this hobby in no time.

For popular music, I stick with 1980s, 1990s tunes. For more serious listening, I turn to Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Bach, Mahler, etc.

The only thing I would add is the 1970s. Those sources are more than enough music for a lifetime. Nothing new is needed. |

Some great music (opera, orchestral, big band, jazz, rag-time, blues, etc.) from earlier in the 20th century, as well. Only thing holding that era of music back was the poor recording equipment & technology of the pre-WWII era. Don't we wish we could hear some of the great voices, musicians and orchestras of the era recorded with modern technology? Couldn't agree more about 'pop', CW, etc., genres from the mid-80s to today. "Music" is not a proper description of them.
