I've heard Raven tube amps before and thought they were just ok ... with their own prototype speakers I was impressed. The team from Raven promise the production models will be even better!

I've heard Magico speakers before and I generally always really like them. I've heard a Luxman CD player that sounded really good also. However the Luxman rooms at the show in my opinion did not have it going on. Not sure what it was but both rooms sounded really more like Hifi setups from long ago and not like the hi end product I know it is. I'll chalk these up to room acoustics maybe

The Avantgarde's certainly sounded very good being driven from a Viva Audio integrated amp and an MSB DAC ... forget which one. First time hearing any of those brands and left the room impressed. The Merrill Audio and Muraudio setup was pretty good but I'd go for Martin Logan personally if I was going electrostatic. The ARC setup and Wilson DAWs were I think the victim of a really small room. I own Sasha 2's and have listened to this exact setup(DAWs and Ref160s) at my dealer and all I can say is that the DAWs were ok but didn't come anywhere near showing off what they are capable of. Surprised they weren't in a bigger room. That said ... the new JBL L100 Classics seemed very content in the small room and although they can't compare to the Wilsons they were really good for what they are. I think the new Levinson integrated amps are probably a great value for sure coming in around $8k depending on options. Would have liked to hear the Levinson driving the Sabrinas that were in the room apparently on static display. The Carver tube amps sounded really good and the small amp had no issue driving the Kefs to pretty good volumes.

The last pic is of everyone being hypnotized by Michael Fremer playing DJ on the VAC VSA setup in the big conference room. I had never met him before but he seemed like a nice enough fellow. Seemed to be having a lot of fun and did some really nice demos. He also didn't take himself to seriously which was refreshing. Also was in several rooms with another reviewer that lets say he didn't seem to be enjoying his work as much. In fact, not sure i ever heard anyone complain as much as him during the show. LOL

Overall I thought the show was a great success and hope it grows in the years to come! Hope you guys enjoyed the pics.

George

Yeah the VAC Statement gear sadly out-prices folks like me. But you should check out their lower lines too - I'm thrilled with my Renaissance SE phono stage; there's just something magic to the way VAC does phono stages. Got mine in a CMS Maxxum rack too, which I just love.

Surprised to see some very expensive speakers paired in rooms with very cheap racks, cheap turntables, etc (like those Neoliths - what the heck?).

Thanks ... I'll check out their Renaissance SE Phone stage when I get ready.
