Default Hello from Indonesia

Hello everybody, I am Dutch and living in Indonesia for about 3 years now.

In the Netherlands I had a very nice system containing Sun Audio SVC-500 preamp, SV-2A3PE power amps, CEC player, Metrum Pavane DAC and a wonderful pair of Musical Affairs Grand Crescendo speakers (with 12 inch Phy-HP units). Sadly we cannot bring the system to Indonesia so I sold everything to a good audio friend.

But a life without music is no life, so I bought a Devialet and takes it in my suitcase to Indonesia. I also bought a 47Labs Cd player and DAC (4715/4716) and decided to buy a pair of speakers in Indonesia.

On the yearly Highend event (PIHEAC) in Jakarta I met Rudy Gunawan from Aurel Bryan. He designed his own broadband units and his demo was excellent. He also talks about a new Field-coil unit, which will be available shortly after the PIHEAC. This is a 8 inch unit and he also designed the power unit for the Field-coil. I immediately ordered a pair and received a few months later.

After listening for some months, I decided to sell my Devialet and I ordered by in the Netherlands a Tektron tube-amp. With 6550 power tubes, but you can change them to KT-88. I did that and changed them to KR-Audio KT-88 which is maybe the best KT-88 I know. The Tektron was send to Indonesia and I am an happy listener. For the small money I use for this set, it sounds wonderful! The whole set costs me less than 5000 USD.

The next thing is to upgrade all terminals on the speakers, and to make my own cables. I had a nice design developed by Cees Pel, a great hifi developer in the Netherlands. It contains good copper, paper, cotton and nice connectors. Hopefully everything is made July 2020.

Good luck with your new system. Please share pictures when you can.

Stay safe and healthy over there. I have spent quite a bit of time in Jakarta, including a few hours at an SOS clinic, and am sure you don’t want to be in a hospital.

I have a good friend (also an audiophile) who lives in Jakarta running a road building/stabilization and coal hauling business. He is now back in the US...

Hopefully this will work. Yes for sure, you don't want to be in a hospital. We stay in our house and didn't meet other people. We will see what happened, we have enough food and there is music!

Some pictures:

Looks great!! If or when you can get to Singapore, there is a thriving (well used to be) audiophile community there.

Start at the Adelphi center.

Welcome to AAf and, definitely, stay safe (everyone).
Nice looking system. Is that the preamp on the left or a headphone amp?
Interesting looking speakers. Are they full-range single-driver or is that a coax driver with a whizzer-cone?

This is more information about the speaker units. There is no brochure for the field coil unit, but the only difference is the magnet.
The other picture is field coil.
