Default Dan D'Agostino's Son Founds New Audio Company

Dan D'Agostino's Son Founds New Audio Company

By Joseph Palenchar -- TWICE, 11/7/2011

Milford, Conn. - If the audio industry had its own TV series, this one might be called All in the D'Agostino Family.

Bret D'Agostino, the eldest son of audio industry veteran Dan D'Agostino, has formed his own component-audio company, Bully Sound Company (BSC), with the avowed goal of making high-end audio more affordable without sacrificing performance or build quality.

Father Dan D'Agostino is co-founder of Krell Industries and Dan D'Agostino Master Audio Systems. Son Bret D'agostino was technical support and national sales manager for Krell Industries until September 2009. Shortly after departing Krell, he helped form Dan D'Agostino Master Audio Systems. In November 2010, he formed Bully Sound to focus on a different market segment for more affordable high end audio products, he said.

Bully's first product, shipping this week, is the BSC-100m, a Class A 100-watt monaural amplifier at $14,750/pair. It will be followed by a 60-watt stereo amp, then a remote-control line-level preamplifier. The trio will represent the top of Bully's line, with the next wave of components positioned as less expensive but sharing much of the technology in the flagships, the company founder said.

"There are not a lot of companies that offer a real value in terms of component quality, workmanship and service," Bret D'Agostino contended. "Working with and around many of the finest minds in the audio industry for close to 30 years, coupled to having an audio legend father at my disposal, is what separates Bully Sound from the plentiful competition."

klipschfan......the BSC-100m aesthetics reminds me of Krell from days of yore, however, the concept image of the preamp looks pretty cool to me.....the Class A bias control for the BSC-100m is neat!......I definitely will be eager to hear Bret's stuff once they arrive onshore over here........if their products stay below the USD 15,000 price level, coupled with the expectant sonic performance, this new venture should turn out quite nicely for the D'Agostino family.......in fact, sometime back, I mentioned about Bully Sound to the current HK distributor of Krell and Dan D'Agostino, and I believe that they are quite interested in looking into this new company......Philip

One of the guys at the local audio store has been waiting for his BSC's for a few months now. It seems like the are continually finding ways to improve them a bit here and there. He heard a demo pair and ordered them on the spot.

Am I the only one to think that the name is kind of wrong...? BS Company? The original
name doesn't do much for me either. Apart from that, the concept could work out.
D'Agostinos amps and preamps are set at a different level. On the other hand, yes
the amps have a somehow dated look, perhaps they are saving a lot on marketing
and design.

It looks like the amps are now being delivered. I spoke with an acquaintance who works at a local audio store who finally received his units. Lucky fellow has Serial numbers 1 & 2.

Bully for them, but I just couldn't live with a piece of gear having a moniker that reminds me everyday of a negative.

I don't find anything negative about a Dog for a logo, even if it is a Pit Bull. I guess some people do prefer cats.

More affordable? Oh yeah, $29,500.00 for a pair of power amps is bringing it home to the masses.
