So, after a few more rounds of research and conversations with people, I ended up with a bit of a different setup.
I ordered a VPI Prime Scout with 2M Black cartridge, It will be connected to my PS Audio BHK Pre through the NuWave phono stage. I will post pics and impressions as soon as I receive everything.

Thank you all for your help!

Congrats! As they say you could spend allot more and get allot less! It looks like you found that nice sweet spot of value and performance. There is a great Facebook group "I Love My VPI Turntable" if you want to join. I've stumbled across some great music because of it.

Thank you Dolsey, I will give that FB group a visit. I think that it is somewhat of a sweet spot, and with the upgradability options, I can probably keep this TT for many years to come.

Killergurt
Can you give us an update?
I’d love to hear your impressions. I’m looking towards a VPI for a first TT. Thanks

Pete - check post #30 here https://www.audioaficionado.org/show...t=44131&page=3. You may be able to help member alkizz get a new HW40 and end up with a great VIP TT.

I agree with getting a good tone arm and cartridge as a priority
