Ok I spoke with engineering and the BDP-1 has 2 USB bus's one on the front and one on the rear with 2 USB connections each. The BDP-2 has 3 bus's one on the front and 2 on the back with 2 connections each.

With USB 1 or USB 1.2 there may be a concern with overload issues but with USB 2 as used in the BDP-1 or BDP-2 there are no concerns at all. If you were running into problems you would be getting dropouts in the signal.

Forgive my ignorance as I am a newbie, so if my question seems naff please be gentle:-)

I have a BDP-1 & BDA-1 combo & love it. I also have the Schiit Loki DSD DAC so would like to experiment with playing DSD files from the Bryston to this DC when the feature becomes available. How on earth do I configure the BDP-1 to output USB & which port would I use?

Nothing to configure. I had this same question a few weeks ago. Bryston updated the firmware last March I think (don't quote me here) and along with that firmware update came the ability for the BDP-1 to output via USB on any of the four connections. The BDP-1 will automatically sense the connection as an output and you are good to go!

What are your thoughts on the Loki when fed by the Bryston BDP-1?

I haven't gone down that path yet, & have been using the loki with a PC & JRiver Media Player. I have very few DSD files to play so am just "experimenting" with it at this stage.
The majority of the music I own is PCM (& the majority of that is good old redbook CD's & vinyl) & the Bryston BDP-1 & BDA-1 more than satisfy my digital playback needs. Not sure if the BDP-1 can accept DSD files at this stage as I was under the impression a new software release is needed?
