I have enjoyed reading all of the posts about the MC75's. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who thinks these are among the best sounding amps that McIntosh has produced. The MC75's are well balanced throughout the frequency spectrum. Better than the MC275's and I think better than the MC2301's. I guess that is why I run them both in my office and at home.

V7Sport73.......Love my McIntosh MC75's. They look tiny sitting on top of the MC2301's in your photo. One of these days I'll carry the MC75's down to the studio system and do a comparison with my MC2301's. I can't say whether the MC75's sound better than the MC2301's, mostly because both sound spectacular to me.

Glad to see another MC75 owner chime in.

I could do some tube change outs in the 2301's and perhaps they may sound better. I have noticed on the 2301's that under 30 watts they lack output around the 300 to 450 hertz. They will stabilize above 30 watts. This may be fine speakers that demand a lot of power. But the Wilsons get uncomfortably loud before the amp balances out. On the other hand the MC75's are stable at all volume levels throughout the frequency range. I have been contemplating selling my 2301's for a while now. I just picked up a pair of Sonus Faber Aida's. I will see how the 2301's sound on those before I make any final decisions about selling them.

Dan,

You’ve piqued my interest. Would you know off the top of your head which fuses I would need for my 2301, and c500p?

Jeremy.......I don't remember the fuse size or rating for my C1000C/P preamp or the MC2301 amps. Both are difficult to get to the fuse holders, so I suggest you use a small straight blade screwdriver and remove the fuse from one of your amps, and also one of the two fuses in the C500 preamp. The small fuse size is 5 x 20mm. The larger fuse size is 6.3 x 32mm. The fuse rating is pressed into the side of the end cap. The letter T means it is a time delay fuse, and no letter is a fast blow fuse.

Check the fuses you wish to replace for size and rating. You can order the HiFi Tuning Supreme fuse here: https://www.vhaudio.com/hifi-tuning.html

I had a long talk via phone with Dan prior to purchasing my two MC275. If you go with the MC275 search out the MkVI version

Great review from Dan. Happy to see that his work lives on for all McIntosh fans to enjoy.

Too bad the MC75 is now discontinued. I would like to own a pair one day.
