Default New Alpha speaker cables in the system

I picked up my new Shunyata Alpha speaker cables (bi-wired version) yesterday, and installed them today. Wow, what a difference! I was expecting some improvement, but they’ve exceeded my expectations. Soundstage depth has improved somewhat, and imaging and separation are better, but the biggest difference so far is in the bass, which has become more solid, stronger, and more clearly defined. I don’t know how much of the change is from the bi-wiring or the move from Ztron Cobra to Alpha - and don’t really care at this point[emoji41].

My main system is now all Alpha power and signal cables except for two pairs of interconnects which are still Cobra - those will get changed out next month. The bi-wiring has also let me move the Cobra jumpers from my Amati Futuras to the little Minima Amators, where I have Venom speaker cables.

Congrats, Tony!

Please continue to provide your impressions as the cables settle...you may find they are quite a better 48-72 hours after you installed them.

Your system must sound fantastic with Alpha throughout. My understanding is Alpha is the real sweet-spot in the line with respect to performance vs. price. Well done.

I don't know if you are using cable elevators, but...they actually work on highly-resolving systems. Right now, I am using some 3D-printed ones from the 'Bay, but I will be ordering two sets the DF-SS cable elevators this week. One of my SPs was on the floor the other day, probably from one of the cats knocking them over when chasing each other around behind the couch, and I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed a reduction in hash and improved focus after I put the cable back up on the elevator.

Cheers!

Thanks Stephen. I don’t have professional cable elevators, but have mounted small wood blocks to the wall behind the speakers to get the cables off the hardwood floor and away from power. Unfortunately the way I’m set up, elevators on the floor aren’t really practical.

Wow Tony, such improvement after only a couple of hours!
I'll follow your journey with interest.

Those’ll work, Tony, wood is good.

Congrats on the new cables, Tony!

I noticed a BIG change when I bi-wired my Aerials, then a more subtle change when I upgraded to the Acoustic Zen cables I have now.

I'm glad you are enjoying yours!
