One day not too long ago I noticed one ad in particular while on AudioGon, that the retailer name had changed from Audiopimp to MSS. I recognized the store, its surroundings etc in the usual for sale pics.

I had always been embarrassed to think that someone would actually consider it attractive or appealing to name their place of business Audiopimp. In the ad I was reading he very briefly explained the recent name change and in few words it sounded like it was a decision that was not entirely his, as though if it were up to him exclusively he would still be named Audiopimp..

I think these types of gimmicks reflect poorly on the retailer considering the general targeted consumer who is buying and spending tens of thousands in some cases. In my opinion it will only turn off a potential costumer rather than convince then to come in and seriously shop. Maybe he is dumb enough to think a consumer assumes there is something extra upon purchase.....

I'd let either of those gals reflect poorly on me.

That ad photo makes me think he might still be into audio, and pimp.

Sidenote, I still like to joke around about it though, its so stupid
The girls are for the "dinner dates" on the last Sat. of the month. High end gear and plenty of it-MBL/McIntosh/Burmester etc....with tons of sales on Audiogon and Ebay. Not sure where they get all of their stuff-overstocked dealers needing cash flow?

They used to wheel and deal pretty good-guess that is reserved for the one day a month at the retail store now-Dinner Dates-gimmick-yes-does it increase traffic at the store?....or just get people talking about them?.
Major draw is price point on high end gear.

Special monthly SUPER SALES:
We feature no-haggle pricing EXCEPT on event day - last Saturday of the month (for example, the next ones are 4/25, 5/30 and so forth). So save your "will you accept $xxx" phone calls and emails until MSS event day - on any other day the asking price is the best price. Everything new, demo, used at special unadvertised discounts. Retail sales only for new and demo gear. Fun atmosphere with hot babes in outrageous outfits, free drinks and hors d'oeuvres. Dinner dates included with purchase of select premium and special promotion items.

Hah, the first thing I thought was: "jeez I forgot just how huge those No.33's are..."

Of course I have been a proponent of a McChick for a long time.
