A couple pics. Quality inspection seal. Nice touch. Shipped like fort knox. What are they using these days, Ivan, 4 boxes?
There isn't much written about this DAC online yet. The big upgrade from the D-07 (without the X) is that the USB is now asynchronous to 192khz and they upgraded the jitter reduction facilities (jitter was the one measurement-related complaint from JA in the Stereophile review of the D-07). I can confirm that I quickly got the D-07x unit working in minutes in full asynchronous mode on the latest version of Mac OSX. All sampling frequencies properly report in both the OS and on the front display, and properly playback, without flaw. I can also confirm that this unit operates wonderfully as a full-featured digital preamplifier with a remote control (not included, but available for purchase if you ask for it). The remote is AWESOME. Heavy as a brick, screwed together and nothing to pop-off (not even a battery compartment), and leather wrapped around the back. Metal on the front. The volume control itself is great: no noise, adjustment in .5 db increments and easily visible on the nice display. More on the sound later, but the short is that I'm already blown away.
