Thanks Howie, I never knew that.

DACs are always on, CD player on when using, off when not using or when stereo gets turned off. SS preamp and amp on when I come home, off when I leave.

I put everything in standby when I am not listening. Many digital components leave the analog sections powered on in Standby. Meridian and Lyngdorf follow this practice.

I leave my Bifrost DAC on all the time (partly as I'm still burning in an IC), and the Oppo in standby. The tube gear gets turned off, of course, after use.

My system (solid state) is on 24/7, I think it sounds much better after reaching thermal equilibrium. I also like avoiding thermal shock from constantly turning on and off. I question the idea of shortening laser life, when in the stop mode the laser is off.

I turn off all my gear when I am not listening but both of my servers are always plugged into power supplies with battery back-up.

It is great to hear what you all do. I was told to leave mine CD player on as the Dacs perform best and takes 72 or more hours for all parts to fully warm up. I have mine for 3 days now and I hear the difference, the music is naturally warm and I can hear more control of the instruments, precise. Thank you for all your responses.
