If we're being honest with ourselves (always risky among audiophiles) we can acknowledge there is a fair amount of fan-boy attitude at AA and it's not uncommon elsewhere. From reading threads here over the years it seems obvious that certain brands have strong and sensitive brand loyalists. No problem, just recognize the fact. On the one hand it's not advisable (or polite) to poke the bear in his own den. On the other hand the ability to describe one's preferences and the reasons for them and the ability to engage in an X vs Y vs Z discussion without being snotty seem so fundamental to the very idea of having an open audio forum that acceptance of these behaviors going in is an unwritten rule of participation. If one is unable to face the possibility that merely by being here you will hear opinions contrary to yours and if that causes a defensive reaction then ask yourself what you want out of participation. Wrangling is fine, debate is fine, but if you can't take it that your choices might suck for someone else, disappointment is inevitable. |

When you start this kind of stuff, I will be there to call you on it unless Ivan censures me or kicks me off site. I have free speech also up to the point a moderator intervenes and says enough. I rarely if ever use slang words like "suck". I'm not meaning to be "snotty". And yes, when the grizzly bear or male lion lion is poked in his den he will respond. I think you understand that. Tima I've been around the block. I've been doing this as long as you guys have. And I rarely if ever use the word "suck" or other slang, and yes, when a bear or old lion is poked long enough and hard enough he will respond. I'm not snotty. You all have every right to state your opinions but I will also state mine. I've had a my share of disappointments that's true, but you guys need to go somewhere else to get your kicks because from now on you are going to get kicked back by me when you start by touting your gear over Mac. Charles, you seem to feel a great need to split hairs and have the last word. We know what a dealer demo is. Give it a rest.

Hi Joey v
I have relationships with a number of dealers over many years. If I am interested in a component and ask to take it home, the dealer understands that I am seriously interested. If I don’t purchase what I bring home, they all know I will be back to purchase something else. And we always work it out so that it is not out of the showroom for more than a day or 2 when they would have it on display. I have had nothing but good relationships with a few dealers who lend me gear and have given them a lot of business in return.

Everything's fine until you return the piece damaged and its a 25,000.00 piece. What happens then? Who's responsible? When your car goes to the body shop, your insurance pays for the rental but guess what, if you take the rental insurance it costs more by far per day than the rental itself. Then when you return the rental, they give it a thorough inspection and you are responsible for any damage. A damaged demo is a worthless piece especially if it is super expensive. No manufacturer will stand behind their warranty if they know it has been lent out and returned damaged. Accidents happen. |
